When Hurricane Gilbert, a category five hurricane, struck Jamaica in 1988, the damage to the land and infrastructure of the island was cataphoric. Always putting others before himself, Floyd Yoder of Yoder’s Building Services, felt a call help those affected by the tragedy. This moment sparked the founding of Jamaican Relief Ministries (JRM). Today, Yoder's Building Services continues this mission to uplift communities and improve the lives of children in the Montego Bay area by building homes, supporting a local preschool, and reuniting families.
Loving people first, delivering lumber second - YBS embodies by this statement which is seen through their mission efforts. YBS strives to make a difference far and wide, building up communities and fostering a spirit of service.
LMC interviewed Mariah Hughes, granddaughter of founder Floyd Yoder, and Senior VP of Culture to speak on the great work Yoder's has done and continues to do through JRM.
