Mid-Cape Home Centers of South Dennis, MA, an LMC member since 2012, is turning 125 years old! Founded in 1895, the company will celebrate its big birthday next year. Mid-Cape operates six locations consisting of five lumberyards and a Martha’s Vineyard showroom. Mid-Cape is a great example of the type of enduring companies who are LMC members.
Last month, the company took home five gold awards at the 2019 PRISM Awards Gala in Boston. The PRISM Awards celebrate and acknowledge some of the greatest building and remodeling businesses in the Greater Boston area. Earlier this year, Mid-Cape acquired fellow century-old lumberyard, Wood Lumber Company, of Falmouth, Mass.
More than 250 employees serve customers year-round at Mid-Cape’s six locations. Several years ago, Mid-Cape developed a written core values statement that is now practiced throughout the company. President Jack Stevenson says one of the mainstays of that statement is just four words that help guide the company forward: "Do the right thing."
“Do the right thing and do it right the first time, means we always strive to treat the customer with respect along the way. The same goes with our employees. We act above board with everything we’re doing. If we do the right thing day in and day out, we’ll be just fine. It sounds cliché, but if we keep listening to our customers, we’ll keep growing and evolving. I fully believe that.”
