Massa Home Center Acquires Two Idaho Lumberyards

At the end of 2020, Massa Home Center in Hamilton, Montana purchased Lemhi Lumber Company in Salmon, Idaho, as well as, Allied Builders Supply Company in Challis, Idaho. Founded in 1979 by Mike and Linda Massa, Massa Home Center has been owned and operated by their daughter, Deana Wolfe and her husband, Jeff Wolfe since 2012.

“We are excited to add these two family-owned businesses into our family at Massa,” says Deana. “We are looking forward to using our purchasing power and excellent customer service to serve these two great communities.”

Lemhi Lumber founded in 1939 and Allied Builders Supply founded in 1949 had been owned by the same two families for their entire existence. When the next generation showed no interest in ownership, Jeff and Deana jumped at the opportunity to own the two lumberyards located 95 and 150 miles from Hamilton. The Wolfes have no plans to change the names of the two companies.

“In rural Montana or Idaho 90 miles is just a Sunday drive,” states Jeff. “In an hour and a half, I would rather travel 90 miles in the mountains along the Bitterroot and Salmon rivers than 15 miles in L.A. or Seattle on the interstate. It’s part of the reason our market is growing so fast.”

The staff has remained the same at both locations since the purchase, but the Wolfes know they will need to add additional employees with homeowner and contractor sales experience. “One of our biggest challenges will be expanding our staff to meet the demands of our growing markets,” says Jeff. “We are lucky to have a great crew at all three locations. It is a great foundation to build upon.”

Massa Home Center celebrated their five year anniversary as an LMC Dealer this January.
