Franklin Building Supply Launches "Ain't That Somethin'" As Podcast Hits Airwaves

Franklin Building Supply CEO Levi Smith has launched "Ain't That Somethin'," a podcast about Idaho-based businesses and companies that have made Idaho their home.

Smith, originally from Texas, now leads and hosts the show from Boise, where the employee-owned building materials company is headquartered. Each episode includes discussions with founders and executives who describe their experiences, challenges, and factors contributing to their success.

"In every interview, you'll hear about an interesting cast of characters, learn about daunting obstacles, and be inspired by the persistence it took to succeed," explains Smith.

Season one guests have included Gary Schweizer from Trus Joist, Jake Peters of Decked, and CJ Buck from Buck Knives. The show releases new episodes every one to two months and is sponsored by Trus Joist for its first season.

In the latest episode, “The Trus Joist Story - Don't Tell Me it Can't Be Done,” Levi interviews Gary Schweizer, an engineer at Trus Joist. They discuss how the company started with the partnership between entrepreneurs Art Troutner and Harold "Red" Thomas in Boise during the 1950s. Schweizer details the insights into the company's projects and how its founders' "can-do" attitude helped transform the building materials industry. The episode highlights the founders' determination and the significant impact on construction nationwide.

"Ain't That Somethin'" features conversations with business leaders in Idaho. Each episode reveals Idaho connections that listeners might not expect, showing the state's business community. Business professionals and people interested in Idaho will find value in these stories about companies that help build local community stories that often prompt the reaction: "Ain't that somethin'?"
